To the Minnesota Golden Gophers Football Family, Fans, and the Entire Gopher Nation:
As I sit down to write these lines, my heart is filled with profound appreciation and humility. Football has always been more than a game to me; it has been a journey, a calling, and a platform for me to develop as a player and a man. That path would not have been possible without the unwavering love, support, and enabling atmosphere that I have been fortunate to find here at the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
From the time I stepped onto campus in Minneapolis, I was welcomed not only as a quarterback but also as a member of a community. This community’s kindness, encouragement, and passion provided a solid basis for me to confidently follow my aspirations. Every cheer from the stands at Huntington Bank Stadium, every word of encouragement in the hallways, every handshake from alumni, and every hug from fans reminded me that I was playing for something much bigger than myself—an entire state, a tradition, and a people bound together by maroon and gold.
I am grateful to my coaches, both past and present, for teaching me valuable lessons. You challenged me to delve deeper, think more clearly, and lead with my heart as well as my arm. You believed in me when I doubted myself, and that belief built resilience and strength within me. I’ll remember those teachings wherever life and football lead me.
To my teammates, you are my brothers forever. We’ve sweated together beneath the hot summer sun, gone through tough training, and celebrated successes that will live in our hearts forever. We also experienced setbacks that put our character to the test, but we grew stronger as a result. Each of you has made an indelible impression on my path, and I am honored to have shared the field alongside soldiers who embody courage, loyalty, and tenacity.
To the fans—our heartbeat—you are what makes college football wonderful. I’ll never forget sprinting out of the tunnel to the sound of your shouts reverberating around the stadium, fueling every drive, throw, and touchdown. Every day, you reminded me that football is more than just competition; it is about community, tradition, and belonging.
Finally, thank you to the entire Gopher Nation for creating an environment in which a young man can dream, stumble, strive, and eventually mature into the athlete and person he is intended to be. Minnesota will always remain a part of my identity, experience, and heritage.
As I look forward to the future, I know that wherever the game takes me, I will carry with pride the ideals, lessons, and love that this community instilled in me. This is not a farewell; it is a celebration of everything we’ve accomplished together.
