My heart is overflowing with appreciation and gratitude as I sit here and write this letter for a trip that has inspired millions of people worldwide. This is about the amazing tale of tenacity, love, and solidarity that has developed over the years, not simply about cycling triumphs or podium finishes. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, Mathieu, the fans who have supported him, and the entire community for making this journey so remarkable.
In addition to pushing the boundaries of athletic achievement, Mathieu van der Poel has demonstrated what it means to follow your passion with humility and heart. One of the greatest honors of my life has been witnessing your competition, with your bravery, unwavering determination, and elegant poise. Every race, every victory, and even every failure has shown you to be a man driven by a passion for the game and a sense of purpose. You’ve demonstrated that being “The Flying Dutchman” is about more than simply speed; it’s about overcoming fear and encouraging others to follow in your footsteps.
Your steadfast support has been the lifeblood of this trip, fans. You’ve persevered through triumphs and setbacks, lining the streets, raising flags, shouting his name, and holding onto your faith when everything seemed lost. Your enthusiasm has given each pedal stroke purpose and raised Mathieu higher and farther. Every finish line seems like a team triumph because of your passion, faith, and love.
And a big thank you to the whole “Flying Dutchman” group for fostering an atmosphere that makes aspirations come true. You’ve created something much bigger than a fan base, from the coaches, teammates, and employees to the devoted fans worldwide. You’ve established a family. a family united by respect for one another, a common interest, and the conviction that greatness cannot be attained by one person alone.
The bond between Mathieu and his supporters strikes a deep chord with me as I think back on everything we’ve done together. Everyone who believed in him, helped him along the way, and stuck by him through every season deserves credit for his achievement.
