This letter is sent with sincere gratitude, quiet pride, and heartfelt appreciation to my wife, Minttu; the fans who supported me every lap; and the entire Formula 1 community that helped to shape my path.
The world of Formula 1 is rigorous. It puts your spirit, discipline, and patience to the test. Noise and spectacle were never the focus of my career. It was all about racing, working hard, and letting the outcome do the talking. However, there were individuals who made the journey possible behind each success, victory, and comeback.

First of all, Minttuβyou were there for me no matter how loud the spotlight was or how quiet the paddock was. Outside of the track, you provided me courage, understanding, and stability. Family is grounding, but racing is stressful. Your faith in me as a person and as a driver provided me stability in a constantly changing world.
To the fans: you have been there for me at every stage of my career. Your support never wavered, from my early days at Sauber to my 2007 World Championship victory, my return with Lotus, and my last seasons with Alfa Romeo. You appreciated my honesty, my sense of style, and my passion for the game. You realized that I didn’t run for attention; rather, I raced because I liked it.
No matter where I was in the world, your enthusiasm, messages, and shouts made every circuit feel familiar.
The Formula 1 community, which includes engineers, technicians, team principals, marshals, journalists, and competitors, created the conditions necessary for drivers like me to develop, compete, and be successful. Racing is never a solitary endeavor. Each lap is the outcome of trust, accuracy, and teamwork.
Over the years, I collaborated with numerous teams and individuals. They all contributed to the development of my career. Together, we overcame obstacles, celebrated successes, and pushed boundaries. That’s the essence of Formula 1.
My trip wasn’t flawless. There were difficulties, errors, and difficult times. However, there were also priceless triumphs, enduring friendships, and memories that I will never forget.
I have a platform because of the sport. It was given meaning by the people.
I never made an effort to be someone I wasn’t. I valued the work, spoke honestly, and ran hard. And in exchange, I got love, loyalty, and respect that extended well beyond the track.
I appreciate your trust.
I appreciate your patience.
I’m grateful for the trip.
Even if the helmet is no longer on, the memories are still there.
