FOX NEWS BREAKING: Houston Texans Line Backer Azeez Al-Shaair’s Controversial Resumption, Makes Blunt Admissions In A Candid Open Letter To His Fans And The Entire Texans Community

Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair recently addressed a controversial incident involving a hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, which resulted in Lawrence sustaining a concussion. In a candid open letter, Al-Shaair expressed deep remorse for the unintended outcome of his actions, stating, “I genuinely didn’t see him sliding until it was too late… To Trevor, I genuinely apologize to you for what ended up happening.”

The incident, which occurred during a game on December 1, 2024, led to Al-Shaair’s ejection and a subsequent three-game suspension. Reflecting on this period, he revealed the emotional turmoil he experienced, describing it as a “really dark place” and admitting that he even questioned his future in football. He shared, “I didn’t eat nothing. I didn’t go anywhere.”

Al-Shaair also addressed the backlash he faced, including “racist and Islamophobic” attacks from some fans and media outlets. He emphasized that those critics do not know his true character, stating, “You don’t know my heart nor my character… God knows my intentions.”

In an effort to gain clarity and move forward, Al-Shaair met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and other league executives. This meeting provided him with a better understanding of the league’s perspective and allowed him to express his remorse directly. He acknowledged his mistake, particularly in escalating the situation by removing his helmet and engaging in a subsequent altercation, stating, “As a man, I clearly made a mistake.”

As he prepares to return to the field, Al-Shaair remains committed to playing with intensity while upholding the values of sportsmanship and respect. He expressed gratitude for the support from his team and fans, and a renewed dedication to his role with the Texans. Coach DeMeco Ryans expressed enthusiasm for his return, stating, “We’ve missed him over these past three weeks… We’re excited to get him back out there.”
