An Epochal Open Letter from Bernie Shaw to Uriah Heep, Fans, and the Whole Uriah Heep Community
Dear Uriah Heep family,
As I sit down to write this letter, I find myself reflecting on our great adventure together. From the first time I stood on stage as your frontman to the innumerable gigs, albums, and incredible experiences, this band and its fans have become my second family. Today, I’d want to take a moment to offer my heartfelt appreciation to Uriah Heep, my bandmates, and all of you—our devoted and passionate fans—who have supported me through every high and low of my career.
To my Uriah Heep brothers, thank you for years of friendship, music, and shared dreams. From Mick Box, whose unrelenting dedication has kept the Heep heritage alive, to every musician I’ve had the privilege of playing with, you’ve all helped develop me as an artist and a person. The tie we have extends beyond the stage; it is a lifelong connection based on mutual respect and an unwavering passion of rock & roll. Through decades of touring, recording, and performing, we’ve created something absolutely unique, and I’m extremely happy to have been a part of it.
Uriah Heep’s heart and soul belong to its devoted fans. Your enthusiasm, passion, and unshakeable dedication have powered every performance and album. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or only recently found our music, your love and passion have been constant. This band has survived for almost five decades thanks to your ability to sing along to every line and turn every concert into a musical festival. From sold-out arenas to intimate settings, every concert has been a shared experience, and I am grateful to each and every one of you.
I’d like to thank the Uriah Heep community for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this famous tradition. You greeted me with open arms, encouraged me through every note I sang, and made me feel right at home in the Heep family. Your generosity and encouragement have meant everything to me, and I will cherish these memories forever.
The music endures despite the passage of time. Uriah Heep will always be a part of me, and I aspire to be a part of this band’s wonderful journey. Thank you for everything.
