An open letter from Luis Robert Jr. to the Chicago White Sox family.
Dear White Sox Organisation, Fans, and the Entire White Sox Community:
As I reflect on my time in Major League Baseball, I am overwhelmed with appreciation for the unwavering support, love, and encouragement I have gotten from this wonderful organisation and fan base. From the moment I joined with the Chicago White Sox, I knew I was joining something special—a franchise steeped in history, passion, and an unwavering desire for greatness.
Thank you to the front office, coaching staff, and my teammates for believing in me and creating an atmosphere in which I could develop, learn, and mature as a player and person. From my early days in Cuba to becoming a major league centre fielder, I’ve faced hardships, victories, and learnt vital lessons. Every time in the White Sox uniform has been a privilege, and I have never taken it for granted.
To the fans: your enthusiasm, commitment, and passion have been the lifeblood of my profession. Every time I walk onto Guaranteed Rate Field, I sense your presence, cheers, and belief in me. You’ve accepted me, supported me through highs and lows, and inspired me to push myself beyond my bounds. Whether you’re in the stands, watching from home or travelling long distances to see us play, your passion feeds this team and contributes to Chicago’s reputation as one of the best baseball cities in the world.
Baseball is more than just a game; it represents a bond that unites us all. From the youth who want to play in the major leagues to the long-time fans who have followed this team for generations, the White Sox community is a family that I am proud to be a part of.
Whatever the future holds, one thing is certain: the lessons, memories, and love I gained while working with this organisation will stay with me forever. Chicago has moulded me in ways that extend beyond the field, and I am eternally thankful.
