An Epochal Open Letter from Vivian Campbell to Fans and the Entire Metal Rock Band Community

To my dear fans and the global metal rock community,

I write this letter with a deep sense of gratitude and purpose. Over the decades, this genre has been my life’s passion, and the unwavering support from you, the fans, has fueled my journey as a musician. Today, I feel it’s time to address something pivotal to us all.

Heavy metal is more than music; it’s a movement, a culture, and a family. It unites us through its intensity and shared defiance against conformity. Yet, as we move into a new era, I see the need for greater unity and respect within this community. Rivalries, misunderstandings, and egos sometimes overshadow the spirit of collaboration that birthed this incredible genre.

I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge every artist, from pioneers to newcomers, who have contributed to metal’s legacy. It’s easy to forget that the challenges we face—be it industry pressures or personal struggles—are not unique but shared. Let’s support one another in preserving this art form’s integrity and ensure it continues to inspire future generations.

For my part, I pledge to stay true to the music and principles that have shaped my career. I also encourage dialogue between artists and fans alike, fostering a space where creativity thrives without judgment. To my bandmates, peers, and everyone who stands on or off stage, thank you for your unwavering dedication.

Let this letter serve as a call to arms—a reminder of our shared commitment to metal’s enduring legacy. Together, let’s reignite the fire that keeps this genre alive.

With respect and gratitude,

Vivian Campbell
