In an unexpected change of events, twin defensive ends Darryll and Mandrell Desir have decommitted from Florida State and pledged their loyalty to the Ole Miss Rebels. The four-star recruits made the announcement on Friday, shaking up the recruiting scene and generating excitement among Ole Miss supporters.

The Desir twins, recognised for their aggressive pass-rushing skills and physical versatility, were among the most sought-after recruits in the 2025 class. They decided to attend Ole Miss after considering offers from other big programs such as Penn State, Nebraska, and Texas A&M. “After much thought and prayer, we have decided to continue our journey at the University of Mississippi,” the twins said in a joint social media post. “We are excited to play under Coach Lane Kiffin and be part of a program that feels like home.”

The commitment is a huge win for Ole Miss, as the Desir brothers are expected to make an immediate impact on the Rebels’ defensive line. Standing 6’5″ and weighing 250 pounds each, the twins boast a remarkable combination of size, speed, and football IQ that has earned them comparisons to NFL legends. Florida State’s loss exemplifies the fierce competition of current college recruiting, particularly as Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities continue to influence judgements. Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell expressed disappointment, but wished the twins well.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin greeted the brothers enthusiastically: “Darryll and Mandrell are elite talents who embody the type of culture we’re fostering here at Ole Miss.” We’re delighted to have them join the Rebel family.” The twins’ selection strengthens Ole Miss’s increasing image as a destination for top-tier defensive players. Fans excitedly await their arrival in Oxford, Mississippi, in 2025.
