An open letter from Dan Lanning to the Oregon Ducks, our fans, and the whole Ducks community.
Dear Oregon family,
As I sit down to think on this fantastic experience, I’m overcome with thankfulness. From the moment I arrived in Eugene, I sensed something unique—a passion, energy, and dedication to greatness that defines what it means to be a Duck. Today, I’d like to take a moment to convey my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has made this trip so memorable.
To my former and current players, you are the heart and spirit of this program. Every day, you arrive with an unshakable work ethic, a desire to compete, and a firm belief in what we’re doing together. Coaching you has been an honor in my life. The most enjoyable aspect of this journey has been watching you mature—not only as athletes, but also as men. You inspire me every day, and I promise to keep pushing you to new heights, on and off the field.
For our fans, there is nothing like Autzen Stadium on game day. The way you fill the stands, yell with emotion, and create an atmosphere unlike any other in college football—you are the fuel that propels this team. You have supported us through every success and setback, pushing us up and believing in the vision we are creating. Your loyalty means everything, and I hope we can continue to make you proud.
Thank you for your consistent support and for providing us with the resources we need to succeed at the highest level. This program’s foundation is based on a dedication to greatness, and your faith in what we do has enabled us to elevate Oregon Football to new levels.
To the entire Ducks community, thank you for accepting me, believing in me, and allowing me to be a part of something much bigger than football. This program is about more than just winning and losing; it’s about legacy, tradition, and family. I’m honored to stand on the sidelines wearing the Oregon “O,” knowing that we’re creating something truly great.
This is only the beginning. The future is bright. Go, Ducks!
With appreciation,
Dan Lanning
