T.J. Watt has set the NFL world on fire with his recent mysterious “peace out” photo on social media. He is now in the final year of his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his tweet seemed to indicate a future departure from the Steel City.
According to insider Ian Rapoport, who spoke recently on NFL’s Good Morning Football, Watt’s post could be terrible news for Pittsburgh:
In general, when a player posts on social media, it is almost never nothing.” After admitting that there is more to Watt’s article than meets the eye, he added this intriguing piece of information about how Watt’s contract discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers have been going:
Generally, when a player makes a social media post, it requires us to discuss it on television—like we are right now—because contract negotiations are not going as well as everyone had planned. If things were going well and everything was in order, [Watt’s photo] would look more like [thumbs up] than [peace out].”
Will the Pittsburgh Steelers bunker down and finalize a deal soon to placate their star edge rusher? Or, finally, did the 30-year-old Watt play his final snap for the Steelers in 2024?
