BREAKING NEWS: LSU Tigers Secure Transfer Tight End Bauer Sharp from Oklahoma

December 13, 2024 – Baton Rouge, LA — In a strategic move to bolster their tight end position, the LSU Tigers have announced the addition of Bauer Sharp, a transfer from the University of Oklahoma. Sharp, who led the Sooners in both receptions and receiving yards during the 2024 season, is expected to make an immediate impact on LSU’s offense.

Sharp’s decision to join LSU comes on the heels of significant departures within the Tigers’ tight end roster. Mason Taylor, who declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, and Ka’Morreun Pimpton, who entered the transfer portal, left LSU with a depleted tight end group. With only freshman Trey’Dez Green remaining, the addition of Sharp provides much-needed experience and depth to the position.

The 6-foot-5, 251-pound Sharp brings a wealth of experience to Baton Rouge. Prior to his tenure at Oklahoma, he spent three seasons at Southeastern Louisiana, where he earned first-team All-Southland Conference honors in 2023. In his lone season with the Sooners, Sharp started all 12 games, recording 42 receptions for 324 yards and two touchdowns. His performance included a standout game against Ole Miss, where he caught eight passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly expressed enthusiasm about Sharp’s potential contribution to the team. “Bauer’s experience and production at both the FCS and Power Five levels make him a valuable addition to our offense,” said Kelly. “His ability to both block and be a receiving threat aligns well with our offensive philosophy.”

Sharp’s arrival is expected to provide immediate support for LSU’s quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier, who will benefit from a reliable target in the tight end position. With Sharp’s versatility and experience, the Tigers aim to maintain their competitive edge in the Southeastern Conference.

As LSU continues to navigate the challenges of the transfer portal and roster adjustments, the addition of Sharp signifies a proactive approach to strengthening key positions ahead of the 2025 season.
