Waco, TX— Dave Aranda, head football coach at Baylor University, has made a significant and sincere gesture that cements his role as not only a leader on the field, but also a custodian of the institution’s long-term prosperity. Aranda revealed today that he will donate a total of $2.75 million from his recent performance bonus to transformative projects on and off the field.

The majority of the donation, $2 million, would benefit the Bears Revamp Project, a significant endeavor aimed at improving academic support facilities, student-athlete services, athletic infrastructure, and wellness centers across campus. The project, which coincides with Baylor’s objective of holistic excellence, will benefit greatly from Aranda’s gift.

“I came to Baylor not just to win football games, but to be a part of something meaningful,” Aranda stated in his announcement. “This university has shaped me, embraced me, and inspired me — and I’m honored to give back to the students, faculty, and fans who have made it all possible.”

Aranda is also providing $750,000 to support student mental health initiatives, academic assistance, and leadership development opportunities for underrepresented and at-risk students. This portion of the donation will go directly toward Baylor’s expanding initiatives to prioritize student well-being, emotional resilience, and career readiness.

“College is about more than just academics and sports. “It’s about becoming who you were meant to be,” Aranda explained. “I want every student, whether they wear a jersey or not, to have the chance to succeed, grow, and lead.”

University President Linda Livingstone praised Aranda’s generosity, calling it “a defining moment for Baylor” and complimenting the coach’s modesty and ethics.

“Coach Aranda embodies the very best of what Baylor stands for,” Livingstone said. “His generosity will improve many lives and generations of kids. Leadership by example at the highest level.”

Aranda, who took over the Bears program in 2020, has maintained a calm, thoughtful style that has appealed to players, alumni, and fans alike. His emphasis on character, discipline, and long-term growth has transformed Baylor into a renowned athletic and academic powerhouse.

“This just shows you what kind of man Coach Aranda is,” stated senior linebacker Marcus Cooper. “He has never made it about himself. He’s always teaching us to help others, and now he’s doing it in the most significant way possible.”

The donation has already prompted numerous Baylor alumni to explore making their own contributions to the Revamp Project. The buzz on campus is apparent, as students, faculty, and supporters rally around Aranda’s vision of a stronger, more united Baylor.

In an era dominated by financial gain and personal ambition, Dave Aranda has chosen a different route — one marked by gratitude, compassion, and a strong belief in the power of giving back.

And for the Baylor Bears community, this donation means much more than money. It represents trust, solidarity, and the enduring power of servant-based leadership.
