An Open Letter from Head Coach Mark Stoops to the Kentucky Wildcats Family.

To the whole Kentucky Wildcat Football family – players, alumni, fans, administration, and every single person who has stuck by this program through thick and thin:

Words will never properly express how grateful I am, but I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Mark Stoops says he's not leaving UK, previews Murray State matchup - WTVQ

You’ve accepted me not only as your head football coach, but also as a part of the Wildcat family. When I arrived in Lexington, I had plans, hopes, and expectations. More than anything, there was belief in what we could do together. And because of your encouragement, enthusiasm, and patience, we’ve created something extraordinary that grows with each passing season.

To our former and current student-athletes: This program would not be possible without you. You’ve given all you’ve got — time, sweat, and emotion — to proudly represent the blue and white. I’ve seen you develop not only as football players, but also as men, and that will always be the most satisfying aspect of this journey. You’ve moved this program ahead day by day, brick by brick.

To the fans, from the raucous crowds at Kroger Field to those cheering from their homes throughout the country, you are our heartbeat. Your dedication never wavered, even during difficult times. The excitement you bring to every game, the pride you feel in every “C-A-T-S” chant, and the love you show our athletes is unsurpassed. I’ve always stated that Kentucky is more than simply a basketball school, and you’ve demonstrated that tenfold. This is a football school, a family, and a movement all because of you.

Thank you to the university’s leadership, staff, and administration for allowing me to manage this program in a way that matches our values and ambitions. Your collaboration and vision have enabled us to turn problems into possibilities, and aspirations into reality.

To the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky, you’ve made an Ohio native feel like one of your own. I’m proud to name this my home. I am proud to raise my family here. And I’ll be forever grateful to wear the UK logo and lead this program every day with pride, humility, and an unyielding desire to build on what we’ve accomplished.

As we look to the future, know that my dedication has never been stronger. Together, we’ve made history. We worked together to transform people’s perceptions about Kentucky football. And together, we shall continue to ascend.

Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for believing in us.

I am forever grateful.
Mark Stoops, Head Coach of Kentucky Wildcats Football.
