Dear Misery Signals, Loyal Fans, and the Whole Misery Signals Community,

With a heart full of appreciation and introspection, I sit down to write these words, which I’ve held with me for years but never had the opportunity to completely express. This is not just a goodbye or a thank you. It’s a dedication to a voyage that transformed my life.

When I joined Misery Signals in 2006, I was entering into something far more than a band. I was stepping into a legacy, a music that conveyed significance, agony, beauty, and rebellion. I was and am profoundly humbled to have been chosen to carry the light on. From the start, you all welcomed me with open arms: fans, bandmates, and the entire hardcore and metal scene. I was a voice filling enormous shoes, and you provided me the space to find my own voice while appreciating those who came before me.

Thank you, brothers in the band. Thank you for every word sent, mile traveled, every night spent pouring our lives into those stages. We shared not only music, but also life. We’ve seen each other at our strongest and weakest points. Despite the chaos and creativity, we produced something honest, hefty, and long-lasting. Controller, Absent Light, and every track in between are alive with real passion and sincerity. They were created by blood, sweat, and honesty, and I am proud of what we accomplished as a team.

To the fans, you have been my fuel. You gave this voyage its strength, whether you were in the front row screaming the songs with tears in your eyes, sending passionate letters across oceans, or silently listening with headphones in dark rooms. I’ve felt your support every day. You didn’t simply listen; you understood. You felt the same way we did. You lived inside the song with us, and no stage or stage light can truly showcase that link.

To the Misery Signals community, you are more than just listeners. You are family. You created a space where it was safe to scream, cry, let go, and start over. You gave a skinny youngster with a lot to say the opportunity to speak to the rest of the world. For that, I owe you more than words can express.

As life progresses and chapters flip, my love and admiration for this band and community endure. The adventure we took together will always be an important part of my soul. I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this story, as well as to everyone who chooses to listen.

Sincerely, Karl Schubach
(Misery Signals, 2006-2020).
Forever grateful.
