Danielle Green established her name at Louisiana State University as a member of the Tigers’ women’s basketball team. After graduating from LSU, Green felt compelled to join the United States Army. She deployed to Iraq in 2004, driven by a desire to serve her nation. Green’s life changed permanently while she was in Baghdad. A rocket-propelled grenade attack on her position caused her to lose her left arm below the elbow. While the injury may have ended her tale, Green chose to consider it as the start of a new chapter devoted to helping others and making a difference.
Green returned home resolved to turn her own adversity into hope for other soldiers. She received a master’s degree in counseling and dedicated her career to assisting service veterans and their families as they navigated the obstacles of life after war. Through her work with the Department of Veterans Affairs and several charitable groups, Green has mentored and counseled innumerable veterans, assisting them in overcoming physical injuries, emotional scars, and the tough transition back to civilian life. Her kindness, strength, and tireless campaigning have established her as a role model for many.
