Jayson Tatum has won 12 Player of the Week awards, good for third place in Celtics history.

Tatum earns his second Player of the Week honor of the season

The NBA honored Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum on Monday for yet another run of dominance. Tatum’s performances from December 30 to January 5 earned him the title of Eastern Conference Player of the Week. He received the distinction for the second time this season and for the twelfth time in his eight-year NBA career. The Western Conference Player of the Week honor went to Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

Over the course of the four games, Tatum shot 43.4 percent from the field and averaged 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. His recent accolade was probably secured by his performance in Thursday’s victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves (33 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds). Tatum has won 12 Player of the Week honors, which puts him third in Celtics history, behind Larry Bird (15) and Paul Pierce (17). Tatum and Jokic’s matchup in Denver on Tuesday night makes the NBA Players of the Week announcement ideal. The Celtics vs. Nuggets game is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston.
