To my bandmates, our global fan base, and the steadfast Fighters communityβ
I find myself thinking back on the amazing journey that has molded not only my profession but also my own soul as I sit with my guitar and listen to the echoes of songs that have carried us through decades of joy, tragedy, success, and transformation. This letter is a sincere acknowledgement of the love and unity that enabled the impossible, and it goes beyond simple gratitude.
Both grief and hope gave rise to the Foo Fighters when they first started. I never would have thought that the soothing sound I discovered in music would become a movementβa familyβthat now crosses international borders. The spirit of my bandmates, who have supported me through both upheaval and peace, is what keeps this band going. Every chord, phrase, and performance has been an expression of a common belief in the power of music when it is based on honesty and love. You have fashioned a legacy with grace and strength, and you have been more than just musicians.
Our supporters, who are the foundation of all we do, have witnessed everything from sold-out arenas to sweaty basement performances. You waited in the rain, sang until your voices failed, and incorporated our music into your own tales. Your faith in us has remained unwavering. In times of uncertainty, you have given us strength, and your devotion has made songs into hymns. You are a part of the band’s lifeblood, not just an audience. Foo Fighters would simply be another moniker without you. It became a home with you.
Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to the entire Fighters communityβthe artists, crew, producers, families, and dreamers who make the magic happenβfor fostering an atmosphere that allows creativity to flourish. You’ve created a setting in which we may freely experiment, grow without fear, and remain true to ourselves. You have taught me that music is lived, not simply heard.
Your unfailing love and support have given significance to every stage we’ve walked onto, every note we’ve played, and every tear we’ve shed along the journey. You’ve given me the opportunity to develop both as a man and as a musician.
Remember that the Foo Fighters are more than simply a band as we travel this path together; they are a link. A living example of what happens when individuals believe in something greater than themselves and when passion and perseverance meet.
I sincerely appreciate you allowing me to dream, fall, rise, and sing once more. The narrative continues. Itβs still being written, with all of you.
With unending love and gratitude,
Dave Grohl
