To Coach Grant McCasland, my teammates, the Red Raider basketball community, and every fan that proudly wears scarlet and black, This letter stems from a place deeper than competition, wins and loses. It stems from thankfulness. Upon reflection. Understanding what it means to be a part of something larger than oneself.
I could tell from the moment I stepped into the Texas Tech basketball atmosphere that this team is founded on more than just talent. It is based on belief, tenacity, accountability, and solidarity. Coach McCasland, your leadership exemplifies all of that. You lead with purpose, clarity, and emotion. You expect perfection while never losing sight of the individual wearing the jersey. That equilibrium developed me not only as a player, but also as a man, for which I am always grateful.
Thank you to my locker room brothers, past and present, for the battles, late nights, smiles, hard chats, and moments that will never be recorded on a stat sheet but will stay with me for the rest of my life. Wearing “Texas Tech” across my chest means representing each of you, overcoming obstacles together, and keeping each other accountable to the standards that define Red Raider Basketball.
To the fans, your affection has never gone unappreciated. You showed up, whether it was the scream of the fans at United Supermarkets Arena, encouraging notes after tough games, or unflinching support when things weren’t going so well. Each time. You believed in us, even when we doubted ourselves. That type of support transforms players. It boosts you when your legs are fatigued and your mind is clouded. It reminds you of why you started.
Thank you to the whole Red Raiders community, including students, alumni, faculty, and families, for making Texas Tech feel like home. You did more than just applaud for us; you hugged us. You supported us through growth, setbacks, and milestones. Your pride, passion, and dedication are what distinguishes this location. The years I spent at Texas Tech will permanently shape my story. This chapter is significant not because of moments on the court, but because of the connections, lessons, and love that accompanied each step of the journey. I bring Red Raider principles with me wherever I go, including resilience, humility, and unwavering determination.
