An Epochal Open Letter from Alvin Kamara to the New Orleans Saints, Fans, and the Whole Saints Community
To the New Orleans Saints, my teammates, our amazing fans, and the whole Saints community,
As I sit down to write this letter, I find myself pondering on our journey together—the highs and lows, the amazing events, and, most importantly, the unshakeable friendship that we’ve formed over the years. Today, I’d like to convey my heartfelt appreciation for the support, love, and opportunities that this city, team, and fanbase have provided me.
When I initially moved to New Orleans, I was a young running back with a dream. I could never have envisioned the legacy we would leave together. I knew I was about to be a part of something remarkable the moment I shot a picture in black and gold. The spirit, culture, and history of the New Orleans Saints have moulded me in ways I never expected. This organisation has not only allowed me to play the game I enjoy, but it has also offered an environment in which I can actually develop as a person and a player.
To the New Orleans Saints’ coaching staff, front office, and owners: Thank you for believing in me. Your unshakeable faith in my abilities has been a constant source of inspiration. You’ve given me the opportunity to display my skills and push myself to new heights. Your dedication to greatness and cultivating a culture of growth has encouraged me to constantly give my all on and off the pitch. The direction and insight I’ve gained here have been tremendous, and I will be eternally grateful for the chances you’ve provided.
To my teammates, you’ve become like family. We’ve battled adversity, celebrated victories, and overcome obstacles together. You’ve always had my back, and I will always have yours. The camaraderie we have in that locker room is unlike anything else, and I treasure every time we’ve spent together. Every touchdown, every hard-fought victory, and every victory lap has been sweetened by the brothers with whom I am able to celebrate.
To New Orleans Saints fans: You have been the team’s heartbeat. Your enthusiasm, commitment, and unwavering support have inspired me to be the greatest version of myself every time I go onto the pitch. You are the reason I play with such pride and enthusiasm. Your screams, applause, and everlasting belief in us—win or lose—have made playing in the Superdome unlike any other. New Orleans is my home, and the affection I feel for this city will be with me for the rest of my life.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to gain recognition and accolades ranging from Pro Bowls to All-Pro selections, as well as setting various records. However, none of these accomplishments would have been possible without the combined efforts of the Saints organisation, my teammates, and, most importantly, the fans who believed in me every step of the way. You made me the player I am today, and I will be eternally thankful.
As I continue on this path, please know that I am committed to providing everything I have for this team and this city. The road ahead is fraught with obstacles, but with the help of this fantastic community, there’s little question we can succeed together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to represent the New Orleans Saints. I will always give you everything I have because you have given me everything.
