An Epochal Open Letter from Alissa White-Gluz to Arch Enemy, The Agonist, Fans, and the Whole White-Gluz Metal Community
To my loving bandmates in Arch Enemy and The Agonist, my great fans all across the world, and the entire White-Gluz Metal Community,
As I sit down to write this letter, I am filled with gratitude, reflection, and a strong sense of connection to each and every one of you. My path from The Agonist to Arch Enemy has been nothing short of incredible. This path was created not just by my own dedication, but also by the unwavering support, love, and encouragement that I’ve gotten from everyone along the way.
My bandmates from The Agonist were the first to believe in my voice and vision. Together, we developed something honest, authentic, and powerful. Those early days—writing lyrics late into the night, travelling in tiny vans, and performing in front of small audiences—formed the basis of who I am now as an artist. We shared dreams, hardships, and achievements, and I will always be grateful. You provided me the opportunity to discover my voice, both literally and metaphorically, and to accept my place in the metal world.
Thank you to my Arch Enemy brothers and sisters for accepting me into a band that had already made a name for itself in metal history. Stepping into Angela Gossow’s shoes was a daunting challenge, but your encouragement in me gave me the confidence to not only fill those shoes, but to forge my own path. Together, we’ve pushed the limits of what death metal can be. From the thunderous riffs to the exciting live performances, our collaboration on stage and in the studio has resulted in music that transcends generations. I treasure every minute we’ve had together, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.
You, my supporters, are the driving force behind my trip. Every day, I am fuelled by your enthusiasm, passion, and dedication. Whether it’s seeing you scream along to every word at a performance, reading your heartfelt notes online, or seeing the wonderful fan art and tattoos inspired by our music, your support has been an ongoing source of inspiration. You’ve supported me through every transition, applauded my accomplishments, and provided strength during difficult times. Knowing that our music has affected your lives, helped you through difficult times, or just provided a soundtrack to your most memorable moments means more to me than words can explain.
Thank you to the White-Gluz Metal Community for providing me with an environment in which to develop, evolve, and prosper. This group is about more than just music; it’s about sharing experiences, respecting one another, and appreciating metal’s raw, unfiltered strength. You’ve given me the freedom to be completely myself, whether through my singing, my activism for animal rights, or my personal values. Your acceptance and encouragement have elevated this beyond a career; it is a lifelong adventure of connection and expression.
As I look ahead to the future, I carry with me the lessons, memories, and love that you’ve all given me. This trip is far from ended, and I’m enthusiastic to keep pushing limits, producing new music, and sharing this great experience with you all.
I sincerely thank you.
With all of my love and metal.
