Randy Crowder, a former Penn State All-American and NFL defensive lineman, has passed away at the age of 72. Born on July 30, 1952, in Sharon, Pennsylvania,

Crowder was a standout at Penn State, earning first-team All-American honors in 1973 and serving as a team captain for the undefeated Nittany Lions that season. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 1974 NFL Draft and played three seasons with the team. After a brief hiatus from the league, he returned to play three more seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Following his playing career, Crowder served as the defensive line coach at Penn State in the early 1980s. He is survived by his family, including his son, Channing Crowder, a former NFL linebacker.
