An Open Letter from Andrew McCutchen. To the Pittsburgh Pirates, their fans, and the entire Pirate community, As I sit down to write this, my heart is full of thanks and appreciation for the roles you’ve all played in my journey. Pittsburgh became more than simply a city to me the moment I put on the black and gold uniform. It became home.

Thank you, Pirates organisation, for believing in me and allowing me to pursue my goal. Your unfailing conviction in my abilities enabled me to develop not only as a player, but also as a person. Every day, I was motivated by the camaraderie in the clubhouse, the coaching staff’s direction, and the commitment to excellence.

To the fans, you are this franchise’s soul. Your cheers resounding through PNC Park, your loyalty through highs and lows, and your unending support will be with me for the rest of my life. You’ve taught me what it is to be a part of a community that sticks together no matter what.

Thank you, Pittsburgh, for welcoming me as one of your own. You’ve taught me the importance of hard work, resilience, and humility. The friends I’ve formed here, as well as the moments we’ve shared, will be treasured for a lifetime. I am humbled by the love and support you have shown me throughout my career.

This supportive environment encouraged my development as an athlete and as a person. You’ve been my strength, encouragement, and inspiration.

As I go on my path, Pittsburgh remains in my heart. The Pirate way, the supporters’ devotion, and the spirit of this city will always be a part of me. Thank you for everything.

With love and thanks.

Andrew McCutchen
