An Epochal Open Letter by Christian Yelich to the Milwaukee Brewers, Fans, and the Entire Brewers Community

To the Milwaukee Brewers organization, the supporters, and every person who proudly wears navy and gold:

I knew I was home the instant I walked into American Family Field and saw the throng of devoted fans. This letter is my way of showing my heartfelt appreciation for the love, belief, and unwavering support you’ve shown over the years. You’ve accepted me not only as a ballplayer, but also as a person, which means more to me than words can ever explain.

When I was dealt to Milwaukee in 2018, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was entering a new clubhouse, city, and chapter. What I discovered was a family – a close-knit corporation committed to doing things well, as well as a city that lives and breathes baseball. You greeted me with wide arms and never let go, despite the injuries, setbacks, and times when things did not go as planned.

Thank you, Brewers organization, for believing in me. For giving me the freedom to develop as a leader, the confidence to overcome adversity, and the opportunity to pursue greatness with some of the league’s most devoted teammates and coaches. I’ve matured as a player and, more importantly, as a man. Your assistance has been the foundation of that progress.

To the Milwaukee fans, you’ve been the beating heart of my career. I’ve heard your cheers ring out at every at-bat, felt your enthusiasm on the road, and enjoyed unforgettable moments with you, from walk-offs to playoff pushes. You inspire me every day. Your dedication remained unwavering even during the most trying times. That type of affection is not overlooked; it is why I give everything I have every time I put on that jersey.

To the entire Milwaukee community, thank you for making this city seem like home. Your generosity has made an effect on my life, from community events to youth camps, as well as every handshake and high five. You have shown me what it is to actually belong.

I do not take any of this for granted. Every time I walk onto that field, I carry the weight and pride of this city with me. I will continue to battle for this team, this fans, and everything the Milwaukee Brewers represent.

With profound respect and unwavering gratitude,

Christian Yelich (#22, Milwaukee Brewers)
Forever happy to call Milwaukee home.
