Despite being voted TIME Athlete of the Year, Clark’s WNBA deal is set to pay little over $78,000 in 2025.

Caitlin Clark’s attorney believes her client will never be appropriately compensated by the WNBA owing to her rising superstardom.

Clark is perhaps the most entertaining athlete in American sports, following a brilliant collegiate career at Iowa and a breakout WNBA season with the Indiana Fever. In 2024, the 23-year-old was selected both TIME Athlete of the Year and WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Despite her successes, Clark is predicted to earn slightly more than $78,000 in the 2025 WNBA season. Her representative, Erin Kane, feels the WNBA would never be able to pay the star what she is worth, becoming the latest person to criticise WNBA salary after Angel Reese.

“Will Caitlin Clark ever be paid by the WNBA what she’s really worth to that league?” Kane spoke to ESPN. “I don’t think that’s possible.”

Clark’s star power has surely drawn more attention to women’s basketball in the United States. She led Iowa to back-to-back national championship finals, where they lost both, and became the NCAA Division I’s all-time leading scorer before turning professional.

Clark continued her exceptional form in the WNBA, setting the league’s single-season assists record and shattering the rookie scoring mark. The All-WNBA First Team member has inked numerous endorsement deals and has 3.1 million Instagram followers.

Kane, who represents other WNBA players, said, “She is part of a broader player body. They all should be paid more. She deserves to be recognised for what she has accomplished and what she has contributed to the league’s economic success. “It’s that simple.”

Angel Reese leads protests about WNBA salary.
Reese brought up the matter of WNBA salaries last October. “Hating pays my bills, baby,” remarked the Chicago Sky star, who will finish her debut season in 2024. “The WNBA does not cover my bills at all. I don’t think that covers one of my bills.
