An open letter from Billy Gibbons to ZZ Top members, fans, and the entire ZZ Top community.
Dear ZZ Top family,
As I sit back and reflect on our great journey together, I’m filled with gratitude and admiration. This band—this brotherhood—has been a wild, blues-soaked ride, made possible only by your unflinching love and support.
To my former and current bandmates, Dusty and Frank, my musical partners-in-crime—what a trip we’ve had. From Texas honky-tonks to the world’s grandest venues, we created something unforgettable together. The chemistry, the groove, and the unspoken understanding between us are what make rock & roll timeless. Dusty, your soul lives on in every note we play, and Frank, you can lock on that groove like no other. I could not have had greater musical brothers.
Our fans—the bearded disciples, blues aficionados, and die-hard ZZ Top fans—have been the backbone of this band since its inception. You turned up, you rocked out, and you kept the party going. Your enthusiasm drove us through every album, tour, and high-octane performance. You provided us with a platform to spread our Texas blues-rock around the world, and I am grateful.
ZZ Top has always been more than simply a band; it represents a way of life, a spirit of grit and groove that captures the essence of American rock and roll. That’s because of you—the fans, the road crew, the families, and everyone who’s ever turned up “La Grange,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” or “Tush” to full volume. You created the environment that allowed this band to develop, and I will always be grateful.
As we go on to the next phase, the music, legacy, and beards continue to flourish. Thank you for supporting us, rocking with us, and making this wild adventure unforgettable.
