Dabo Swinney’s Epochal Open Letter to the Clemson Tigers Football Family, Fans, and the Whole Tiger Community
Dear Clemson family,
As I sit down to compose this letter, my heart is full with thankfulness. The moment has come for me to reflect—not only on a chapter in my life, but also on the legacy we’ve created together over these great years. This isn’t just about football. This is about love, trust, endurance, and a brotherhood that has endured for 129 seasons of Clemson Tigers football—a heritage I am proud to be a member of.
When I first went into the Clemson locker room, I realized I was joining a program with deep roots and a strong tradition. But I never envisioned the immense support, intense loyalty, and unflinching faith this community would provide me during my journey. You accepted me not only as a coach, but as a member of your family. And I’ll never forget that.
Thank you to every player I’ve had the opportunity of coaching. You gave me your all, believed in the process, and contributed to the success of our program. We’ve seen little boys grow into men, walk-ons become captains, and underdogs win championships. Each of you contributed a unique narrative to the team, and together we created something special. Every drill, game, and fourth-quarter stand exemplified your spirit and grit.
To my fellow coaches and staff members: your dedication, hard effort, and conviction in our vision have been the foundation of everything we’ve accomplished. No trophy shines brighter than the relationships we’ve formed and the lives we’ve touched because we chose to travel this path together.
To the fans, there is nothing like the clamor of Death Valley. You’ve supported us through highs and lows. You’ve made Saturdays into sacred days. You’ve transformed Clemson from a place to a passion. Whether it was a national championship run or a rebuilding season, your faith remained unwavering. For that, I really thank you.
And to the Clemson community, thank you for fostering an environment that not only promotes athletic success but also develops character and integrity. This university has shaped me just as much as I have attempted to create this program. It’s been an honor to call this location home.
As we move ahead, I want you to know that no matter what happens, the Clemson spirit will always be with me. The years, the people, and the program have all been a heavenly blessing.
With heartfelt thanks and love,
Dabo Swinney
