An Epochal Open Letter to Fans and the Deep Purple Rock Community

From Ian Gillan

Dear Fans, Friends, and the Entire Deep Purple Family,

As I sit to write this, I am overwhelmed by the remarkable journey we have shared. Decades have passed, yet the fire burns as fiercely as it did when we first stepped onto a stage together. Today, I want to address you not just as the voice of Deep Purple but as a fellow traveler on this unforgettable musical odyssey.

Rock and roll, as we’ve always known it, isn’t just music; it’s rebellion, unity, and passion. It’s a language that connects generations, transcending borders and time. Deep Purple was born out of that spirit, and I stand proud knowing that, together, we’ve created something that refuses to fade.

The world has changed drastically since those formative years. Yet, through your unwavering support—attending concerts, playing the records, sharing the songs—you’ve kept this incredible legacy alive. It humbles me to know that our music still reaches hearts, old and new.

To my bandmates, past and present, I owe a lifetime of gratitude. Deep Purple has been about more than just notes and lyrics. It’s about camaraderie, the belief in each other, and the resilience to endure the tests of time. I can assure you—this story isn’t over yet.

To the fans, you are the beating heart of Deep Purple. Whether you’ve been there since In Rock, joined during Perfect Strangers, or discovered us yesterday, you are part of this family.

As we look toward the future, know this: we will continue to give everything we have on stage and in the studio. Because of you, the music lives on.

With endless love and gratitude,

Ian Gillan
