An Epochal Open Letter from Rob Halford to Judas Priest, Fans, and the Whole Judas Priest Community

To my brothers in Judas Priest, our passionate fans throughout the world, and the entire Judas Priest community,

As I reflect on the great trip that has been my life in music, I am filled with gratitude and humility. The journey we’ve taken together has been nothing short of incredible, with moments of triumph, obstacles, and an unwavering passion for the music we love. Today, I write this letter not just as Rob Halford, the leader of Judas Priest, but also as a man immensely grateful for the love, support, and enthusiasm that have helped shape my career and life.

To my Judas Priest bandmates, you are more than simply musicians; you are family. From the minute we plugged in our guitars and started riffing, there was an unspoken kinship, a shared ambition to create something eternal. From “Breaking the Law” to “Painkiller,” we worked together to create anthems that have been heard in stadiums and dive bars alike. We’ve pushed the boundaries of heavy metal, not only musically but culturally, becoming icons for a genre that values rebellion, resilience, and sheer power. Our solidarity and passion remained unwavering despite lineup changes, personal challenges, and an ever-changing music landscape. You’ve been my brothers in arms, and I’m eternally grateful.

Our fans are the heart and soul of all we do; you are Judas Priest’s lifeblood. Our success has been built on your loyal support, from the early days in Birmingham clubs to sold-out venues throughout the world. Seeing you in the audience, fists up, singing every song with uncontrolled enthusiasm, has been one of the greatest delights of my life. You’ve supported us through every album, tour, every twist in our road. Your dedication has been a source of strength, and knowing that our music has been a part of your lives—both good and bad—means more to me than words can convey.

Thank you, Judas Priest community, for allowing me to be my genuine self. As a gay man in heavy metal, I had particular challenges, but your acceptance and love enabled me to embrace my identity fearlessly. Your support went beyond music; it was a message of solidarity, demonstrating that metal is for everyone. The courage you’ve showed in standing with me and each other demonstrates the strength of this community. You have transformed Judas Priest into more than simply a band; you have created a movement.

As we look to the future, I am filled with enthusiasm and expectation. The torch of heavy metal burns as brightly as ever, and our dedication to providing tremendous, soul-stirring music is unrelenting. New riffs, tours, and memories await us, and I am grateful to continue this trip with all of you by my side.

Thank you so much for being a part of this fantastic ride. Your love, support, and belief in Judas Priest made all the difference. Together, we shall hoist the metal flag higher, louder, and prouder than ever.

With all of my love and gratitude.

Rob Halford
The Metal God
