An Open Letter from Tucker DeVries to the West Virginia Mountaineers Community To My West Virginia Mountaineers Family As I sit down to write this letter, I want to take a moment to thank all of you—the fans, teammates, coaches, staff, and the entire Mountaineers community—for making my time here unforgettable. I am incredibly grateful, appreciative, and respectful of everyone who has shared in my journey with West Virginia Mountaineers Men’s Basketball. I felt the passion, energy, and unwavering support that characterizes this program and its amazing fanbase as soon as I stepped onto the court in Morgantown.
A Brotherhood Unlike Any Other
To my teammates, you are not simply my teammates; you are my brothers. Together, we have fought, encouraged one another to improve, and made lifelong memories. In addition to molding me as a player, the early morning practices, late-night movie sessions, and the exhilarating games held at the WVU Coliseum have also molded me as a person. I will always be thankful for our relationship because you have taught me what it is to be a part of something greater than myself.
The Mentors Who Had Faith in Me
Thank you to Coach (Insert Head Coach Name) and the whole coaching team for encouraging me to be the greatest version of myself every day and for believing in me. In addition to helping me improve my abilities on the court, you have also helped me get ready for life in general. Your dedication to this program, leadership, and insight are incredibly motivating. I have developed in ways I never would have thought possible because of you, and I will always remember those teachings.
The fans are Mountaineers basketball’s lifeblood.
You are the lifeblood of this program, Mountaineers supporters. Every game has been inspired by your cries, your cheers, and your unshakable faith in us. You supported us during good times and bad, bringing positive energy and pride to the arena. It has been a pleasure and a joy to play in front of you, and I am so grateful that you have accepted me as one of your own.
West Virginia: A Home I Will Always Have
You have provided me with a second home in the West Virginia community, not just a place to play basketball. I’ll never forget the warmth and kindness I’ve experienced here. I have been incredibly touched by every handshake, kind remark, and expression of encouragement. I am honored to have contributed to the legacy of Mountaineer Nation, which has a very unique character.
West Virginia will always be with me as I continue on my path. My heart will always be a Mountaineer, no matter where life leads me. This is merely a new chapter, not a farewell.
With unending love and gratitude,
DeVries Tucker Will Always Be a Mountaineer
