Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves speaks up about his injury scare

Fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves anxiously awaited word on whether Anthony Edwards’ ankle injury sustained in the second quarter of their eventual 117-93 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of their second-round showdown was significant enough to keep him out for a long time. A major injury to Edwards would have severely hampered the Timberwolves’ prospects of moving on to the next round, and at the half he was considered doubtful to return.

However, Edwards started playing again in the second half and appeared to be fully recovered from his ankle injury. After the Timberwolves’ victory, the 23-year-old star was in high spirits and told Lauren Jbara of TNT that he was “feeling great” despite having a serious injury scare.

Timberwolves fans will be happy to hear that because they understand that they can only advance as far in the playoffs as Edwards leads them, and his health will be crucial as they try to defeat a Warriors team that is currently without Stephen Curry due to a hamstring injury of his own.

In actuality, Edwards performed admirably in the second half. During that period, he made four of his six field goals and scored 13 of his 20 points. But with the game out of the Warriors’ grasp, the Timberwolves decided to be cautious of a possible re-aggravation of his ankle ailment and substituted him off at 4:03 in the fourth quarter.
