“Arizona State Sun Devils Land Commitment from Dual-Threat Quarterback Israel Carter for 2025 Season…. see details

In April 2022, Arizona State University (ASU) secured a commitment from dual-threat quarterback Israel “Izzy” Carter for their 2023 recruiting class. Carter, hailing from Centennial High School in Corona, California, was recognized for his dynamic abilities both in passing and rushing, making him a valuable addition to the Sun Devils’ offensive lineup.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, Carter was rated as a three-star prospect by recruiting services. During his junior year, he showcased his versatility by throwing for 844 yards and eight touchdowns, while also rushing for 316 yards and eight scores. His performance earned him the Quarterback MVP at the Under Armour Next All-America Camp in Southern California in March 2022.

Carter’s decision to commit to ASU was influenced by several factors, including the university’s coaching staff, offensive scheme, and overall environment. He expressed a strong connection with the coaching staff and appreciated their commitment to tailoring the offensive system to his strengths as a dual-threat quarterback. Additionally, Carter was impressed by the campus atmosphere and felt a sense of belonging during his visit.

However, in December 2022, Carter announced that he would not be signing with Arizona State during the Early Signing Period, despite his earlier commitment. This decision introduced uncertainty regarding his future with the Sun Devils.

Subsequently, Carter decommitted from ASU and committed to the University of South Florida (USF) in 2023. At USF, he began the season as the third-string quarterback and was later elevated to the backup role following an injury to the starting quarterback. Carter saw limited playing time, throwing for 195 yards and four touchdowns in the final two games of the season. In December 2024, he entered the transfer portal, seeking opportunities elsewhere.

Carter’s journey reflects the dynamic nature of college football recruiting and the various factors that influence a player’s career path. His initial commitment to ASU brought excitement about his potential impact on the Sun Devils’ offense, but subsequent decisions led him to explore opportunities at other programs.
