Baltimore Orioles’ former No. 1 prospect, Jackson Holliday, is rapidly solidifying his status as the top second baseman in the American League. After transitioning to second base, Holliday has impressed both offensively and defensively, emerging as a cornerstone in the Orioles’ lineup.

So far this season, Holliday is slashing .275/.323/.434 with an OPS+ of 120. He’s recorded six home runs, seven doubles, two triples, 24 RBIs, and four stolen bases. His consistent production has not only helped the Orioles maintain their competitiveness in the tough AL East but also positioned him as a strong candidate for the American League All-Star team.

Holliday’s steady performance is a testament to his development since being drafted first overall by the Orioles. Initially a shortstop, his shift to second base has proven to be a strategic move, showcasing his versatility and solidifying his long-term value to the team.

His emergence is particularly timely as the Orioles continue to push for a postseason spot. With the team set to host the Chicago White Sox for a three-game series starting today, May 30, 2025, followed by a matchup against the Seattle Mariners beginning June 3, Holliday’s role will be even more crucial. These upcoming series will give him further opportunities to demonstrate his value and leadership.

As one of the most exciting young talents in baseball, Holliday is living up to the high expectations placed on him as a top prospect. His growth not only cements his status as the best second baseman in the AL but also underscores the Orioles’ bright future as they continue to build around their talented young core.
