In a major cross-continental collaboration, NBC and the BBC have revealed the imminent release date of a highly anticipated documentary on the incredible life and career of legendary British singer, actor, and cultural icon Marianne Faithfull. The in-depth documentary “Marianne: The Muse, the Voice, the Survivor” is planned to broadcast simultaneously on NBC’s Peacock and BBC Two on October 18, 2025, and promises to be one of the most captivating music and cultural retrospectives in recent memory.

This groundbreaking partnership seeks to present an unfiltered image of Faithfull’s decades-long journey through stardom, addiction, love, and reinvention. “Marianne” pulls no punches, from her explosive rise to prominence in the 1960s as a teenage pop sensation with hits like “As Tears Go By” to her tumultuous relationship with Mick Jagger, her struggles with homelessness and drug addiction, and her later critical acclaim as a haunting, world-weary voice in art rock and poetry.

The film, produced with full access to Faithfull’s personal archives, will include never-before-seen home footage, handwritten writings, and intimate interviews with close friends, family members, and era giants such as Keith Richards, Anita Pallenberg, Iggy Pop, and Nick Cave. Notably, the documentary features what is now regarded as Marianne Faithfull’s final extended on-camera interview, conducted before her health deteriorated owing to COVID-19 problems.

Karen Michaels, NBC Universal’s Head of Documentaries, lauded the film’s vision: “This is more than a music documentary; it’s a human story of pain, perseverance, and artistic rebirth.” Marianne Faithfull has been both a muse and a warrior, and her narrative deserves to be presented on the biggest platform.

Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer, echoed that sentiment: “Few artists have lived as fiercely, fallen as hard, or risen as defiantly as Marianne.” We are honored to help preserve and share her legacy with a new generation.”

The documentary, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Asif Kapadia (known for Amy and Senna), is likely to strike a deep chord with both longstanding fans and others who are only now discovering Faithfull’s talent.

As expectation grows, “Marianne: The Muse, the Voice, the Survivor” is poised to not only reintroduce Faithfull’s unmatched contributions to music, society, and feminism, but also to solidify her status as one of the most resilient voices of her time.
