Michigan’s pursuit of Nate Marshall was nothing short of relentless. Coach Sherrone Moore and his staff recognised the young edge rusher’s limitless potential, so they increased their attempts to get him back in the 2025 recruiting class. Marshall eventually rejoined Michigan’s class in early December, after temporarily attending Auburn. Since then, he’s been killing it at camps and on the basketball floor for his high school squad. The most recent highlight clips demonstrate why Moore prioritised Marshall in this class.

And Marshall’s athleticism is exactly why he was named a 5-star prospect in the most recent Rivals rankings, moving up to No. 27 overall in the 2025 class.

Marshall’s improvement gives the Wolverines three 5-star recruits in the 2025 class. However, with many projections that Ty Haywood will commit to Michigan in the near future, the Wolverines may acquire a fourth 5-star prospect in the coming days. According to Rivals, Michigan has Bryce Underwood as the No. 2 overall player (the only source that does not have him at No. 1), while Marshall is ranked 27th. According to Rivals’ aggregate rankings, offensive tackle Andrew Babalola is also a 5-star prospect.

If Ty Haywood performs as expected by experts, this could be one of the best recruiting classes Ann Arbour has ever seen. Not bad for a program that was chastised six months ago for not being proactive enough in the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) category. Given the latest recruiting success, you have to give credit to head coach Sherrone Moore, General Manager Sean Magee, and the rest of the Michigan football team.
