An open letter from coach Kim Mulkey to the LSU Tigers basketball team, fans, and the entire Tigers community.

Dear LSU family,

As I sit down to write this letter, my heart is filled with gratitude, love, and deep admiration for everyone of you. From the moment I arrived onto this campus, I felt the warmth of a community that welcomed, challenged, and supported me in ways I could not have anticipated. Today, I’d like to take a moment to thank you—the players, the fans, the administration, and the whole LSU community—for your unrelenting support, passion, and love throughout my time here.

To my wonderful players, past, present, and future, you are the reason I do what I do. Your drive, resilience, and determination to push yourself to be the best versions of yourself inspires me every day. Coaching is about more than just designing plays or winning games; it’s about developing relationships, teaching life lessons, and forming bonds that extend far beyond the basketball court. You have trusted me with your goals, hardships, and victories, and I am eternally thankful. The most satisfying aspect of my journey has been watching you grow as athletes and young women.

To the fans, your enthusiasm is unrivaled. Every time I go into the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and hear Tiger Nation’s thunderous scream, I am reminded of why our program is so unique. You add energy, spirit, and belief to our team in ways that words cannot express. You have supported us through the highs and lows, cheering us on, boosting us up, and reminding us that we are playing for something much bigger than ourselves. Your encouragement means everything, and I keep your steadfast faith in us in my heart every day.

To the LSU administration and athletic department, thank you for believing in me and allowing me to manage this program. Your dedication to excellence and to creating an atmosphere in which athletes and coaches may thrive is the cornerstone of our success. The tools, encouragement, and shared vision have enabled me to create something remarkable here, which I could not have done without your help.

To the entire Tigers community, thank you for making LSU feel like home. This university, this state, and this program have provided me the opportunity to continue developing, learning, and making a difference. LSU’s culture is one of resilience, fortitude, and constant support, and I am proud to be a part of it.

As we continue on this journey together, please know that my dedication to you and this program is stronger than ever. The job never ends, and our ambitions stay high. But with you all at my side, I am confident that we will continue to achieve greatness together.

I sincerely thank you.

Forever LSU, Coach Kim Mulkey.
