An Open Letter from Haiden Deegan to the Motocross Racing Community.
To my beloved motocross family.
I’d like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you—fans, teams, organizers, my fellow riders, and everyone else who has helped shape this sport into what it is today. As I look back on my journey, from the first time I swung a leg over a dirt bike to where I am now, I am overwhelmed by the love and support I have received from this great community.
Motocross is not only a sport; it is a way of life. It requires unwavering dedication, resilience, and the courage to overcome obstacles. Above all, it requires a support structure that ignites each rider’s desire. I feel really fortunate to have been welcomed into such a community, which has not only encouraged me but also laid the groundwork for my development as a racer and as a person.
To the fans who fill the stadiums, scream my name, send encouraging messages, and never give up on me—you are the sport’s heartbeat. The excitement you bring to the tracks is unparalleled, and every time I line up at the starting gate, I ride knowing that I am not alone. Your consistent support motivates me to be the best version of myself, and I am eternally thankful.
My fellow riders—my brothers and sisters in this sport—have a camaraderie that extends beyond competition. We compete intensely on the course, but we also encourage one another, understanding that motocross is as much about camaraderie as it is about racing. Every time I race, I have the biggest respect for those who are on this road with me, because I understand the sacrifices and devotion it takes to compete at this level.
To the teams, sponsors, mechanics, and organizers who work diligently behind the scenes, you are the foundation of motocross. Without you, this sport would not exist as it does now. Your dedication, devotion, and passion have created a climate in which riders like me can pursue our aspirations. I am genuinely grateful for every chance, piece of advice, and push toward excellence that I have gotten during my career.
Motocross has given me more than I could have possibly imagined. It has taught me the value of perseverance, the excitement of achieving excellence, and the significance of community. It has shown me that success is never a solo achievement—it is built upon the love, belief, and hard work of numerous individuals who stand behind you.
So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone. This road is far from done, and I promise to continue giving my all, not only for myself, but also for the great community that has helped develop me into the rider and person I am today.
