Jett Lawrence Writes an Open Letter to Fans, Ken Roczen, and the Whole Motocross Community
To the Motocross Family,
I am incredibly grateful for all of the love, support, and faith that so many of you have given me during my career as I pause to think back on this amazing trip. This sport is a way of life, a community, and a fraternity that goes beyond simple competition. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped to shape my path.
First and foremost, even before I ever lined up behind you, Ken Roczen was an inspiration to me. Observing your path, your tenacity, and your unadulterated passion for racing has inspired me to improve every day. I am incredibly thankful that I got to share the track with you because you have raised the standard for what it takes to be a professional and a competitor. I will remember the struggles, the respect, and the lessons I’ve learnt from you for the rest of my professional life. I appreciate you being a friend, a competitor, and an inspiration.
You are the lifeblood of our sport, my fans. Your enthusiasm keeps me going, whether it’s through the crowded stadiums, the children holding placards with my name on them, the messages on social media, or the high fives in the stands. You have supported me through every victory, every difficult race, and every obstacle, and it means the world to me. I keep pushing harder, going deeper, and trying to make every race one to remember because of your everlasting support in me.
I want to express my gratitude to the motocross community—riders, teams, mechanics, sponsors, and everyone else who contributes to the sport’s success—for creating an atmosphere in which I could develop, learn, and flourish. Motocross is so unique because of the innumerable hours spent behind the scenes, the sacrifices made, and the love. Without the people that devote their life to this sport, I wouldn’t be where I am now, and I feel really privileged to be a part of it.
I pledge to keep giving this sport, which has given me so much, everything I have since this adventure is only beginning. I bike for all of you who have faith in me, not just for myself. I appreciate you turning this dream becoming a reality.
With appreciation and deference,
Jett Lawrence
