Natalie Spooner’s epochal open letter to the Toronto Sceptres, their supporters, and the entire Sceptres ice hockey community
Dear Family of the Toronto Sceptres,
I feel a great sense of satisfaction and thankfulness for being a member of such an amazing organization when I pause to think back on my journey. For me, the Toronto Sceptres have been more than just a team; they are a family, a home, and the cornerstone of my development both as a person and as an athlete.
I knew I was a part of something extraordinary the moment I wore the colors of the Sceptres and took to the ice. Words cannot adequately describe how this organization’s enthusiasm, dedication, and unshakable commitment have influenced my career. Thank you to the staff, coaches, and management for encouraging me to be the greatest version of myself, believing in me, and creating an atmosphere where I could succeed. Your guidance and assistance have been invaluable.
On the rink, my teammates have been more than simply teammates—you have been my sisters and my greatest inspirations. We have fought together, celebrated together, and supported one another through triumphs and setbacks. I will always treasure our relationship, and I feel privileged to have performed with such remarkable women.
And to the amazing Sceptres supporters—you are this team’s lifeblood. Every game is echoed by your applause, your steadfast encouragement strengthens our resolve, and your faith in us pushes us to reach new heights. You have supported us and added significance to every moment, whether we were rejoicing in a significant victory or learning from a difficult setback. For all of the love you have given me along the way, I am very grateful.
I have no idea what the future may bring, but I do know that Toronto will always retain a special place in my heart. I appreciate you being a part of my path, helping to mold my career, and demonstrating to me what it means to be a Sceptre.
