Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is officially wanted by Miami-Dade authorities on charges of attempted murder with a firearm, stemming from a violent incident at a celebrity boxing event in Little Haiti, Miami, on May 16, 2025.

According to a warrant issued by the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, Brown allegedly engaged in a heated altercation with 38-year-old Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, which escalated into a physical brawl. During the conflict, Brown is accused of seizing a firearm from a security guard and firing two shots. One of the bullets reportedly grazed Nantambu’s neck, and the victim also suffered a broken finger during the struggle.

Surveillance footage and multiple cellphone videos reviewed by investigators appear to show Brown in possession of the weapon and advancing toward the victim. Witnesses at the scene described chaos erupting at the venue, with some attendees—including families with children—scrambling for cover.

Brown was briefly detained that evening but released pending further investigation. The arrest warrant, signed on June 11, stipulates that upon apprehension, Brown must post a $10,000 bond and remain under house arrest while awaiting trial. His legal team claims he acted in self-defense and disputes key details in the prosecution’s narrative.

This is not Brown’s first brush with legal trouble. Once one of the NFL’s most electrifying players, the 36-year-old wide receiver saw his career derailed by off-field controversies, including multiple assault accusations, lawsuits, and most recently, a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2024, in which he reported owing close to $3 million.

Brown, a former Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, had been pursuing entertainment ventures and public appearances since his retirement from football. However, this latest charge could result in serious legal consequences, including a potential life sentence if convicted under Florida’s attempted murder statutes.

Miami-Dade police are urging the public to come forward with any information on Brown’s whereabouts. As of Friday, Brown remains at large.

The incident has sparked renewed scrutiny of celebrity security protocols and raised concerns about the safety of public events featuring high-profile, often controversial figures.
