Kelvin Joseph Jr., a 25‑year‑old former LSU cornerback who last played for the D.C. Defenders in the UFL, has been arrested and charged following a fatal crash in Richardson, Texas, on June 7, 2025. Joseph reportedly collided with a lone motorcyclist, 27‑year‑old Cody Morris of Plano, on North Central Expressway—Morris was pronounced dead at the scene .

 

Joseph called 911 later that morning and spoke with law enforcement. When officers arrived, they noted signs of intoxication—bloodshot, glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol—leading to charges of Driving While Intoxicated (a misdemeanor) and Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death (a felony) .

 

Local outlet WBRZ reports that Joseph allegedly waited approximately 45 minutes before calling 911, claiming he waited until he “felt safest.” Investigators noted this delay may have exacerbated Morris’s injuries . Additionally, police discovered a partially smoked marijuana blunt in Joseph’s vehicle during the investigation .

June 7, ~4:50 a.m.: Joseph collides with a motorcycle. Morris, age 27, dies on scene .

 

He then allegedly drives ~3 miles, reportedly missing a front tire .
