LSU Football has secured a significant recruiting opportunity by landing the final official visit from Jase Mathews, one of the nation’s top wide receivers in the 2026 class. Mathews, a four-star prospect from Greene County High School in Leakesville, Mississippi, is ranked among the top 10 wide receivers nationally and is the No. 4 overall prospect in Mississippi. During his junior season, he recorded 68 receptions for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Mathews previously visited LSU in early March to observe the first day of spring camp. He has scheduled official visits with several programs, including Colorado, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Texas A&M. Notably, he has replaced a planned official visit to Miami with LSU, indicating a strong interest in the Tigers.

LSU’s 2026 recruiting class already boasts commitments from top-tier wide receivers:

Tristen Keys: The No. 1 wide receiver in the 2026 class, Keys committed to LSU in March 2025. He had an impressive junior season at Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi, with 58 receptions for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Jabari Mack: Ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver in Louisiana and among the top 10 nationally, Mack chose LSU over programs like Texas, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.

Kenny Darby: A four-star wide receiver from Airline High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, Darby had a standout junior year with 100 receptions for 1,764 yards and 24 touchdowns. While committed to LSU, he is also exploring other opportunities, including an official visit to Alabama.

Adding Mathews to this already impressive group would further solidify LSU’s reputation as a premier destination for elite wide receiver talent. His upcoming official visit presents a crucial opportunity for the Tigers to make a lasting impression and potentially secure another top-tier commitment.
