After a 19-point victory, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo received some wonderful news less than a day later: five-star center Ethan Taylor is a Spartan.
The five-star center from Missouri’s Link Academy chose Michigan State over Oklahoma, Oregon, Indiana, and Kansas on Friday night.

According to 247Sports, Taylor is now the fourth pledge in the Spartans’ 2026 class that was already in the top 10. This is Izzo’s largest class since the 2023 group that included Gehrig Normand, Jeremy Fears Jr., Coen Carr, and Xavier Booker.
Many think that this class is even better because of Taylor’s dedication.
Additionally, Izzo now has his big man of the future in Booker, the first five-star commit since that 2023 class. Many recruiting analysts think he could be the top big in the 2026 recruiting class because of his tremendous ceiling.
This is significant not only for the near future but also for Izzo’s long-term goals. In addition to Jasiah Jervis and Julius Avent, he envisions a future lineup that includes Carlos Medlock Jr. and Taylor, who are currently teammates at Link Academy. He selected athletes that have the potential to be exceptionally talented but aren’t certain to be one-and-done players.
The “why can’t we ever get a 7-footer?” crowd is also calmed by this.
Taylor is a skilled 7-footer who can play well on both ends of the court and create for himself. In addition to being the second-best center in the class, he is regarded as the 23rd overall recruit.
People, Izzo still has his fastball.
