An Epochal Open Letter from Albert Reese IV to Mississippi State Bulldogs, Fans, and the Whole Bulldog Community
Dear Mississippi State family,
As I reflect on my journey, it is with tremendous gratitude and emotion that I write this letter to you—the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the incredible fan base, and the entire Bulldog community—who have helped develop the man and athlete I am today. From the moment I came on campus, I knew I was a part of something far larger than myself. And today, as I reflect on the years I’ve spent in maroon and white, I’m filled with gratitude for your support, love, and opportunity.
Coming to Mississippi State was more than just a career decision; it was a watershed event. You accepted me not only as a player, but as a person. You supported me throughout every obstacle, game, practice, and quiet period of progress. You believed in me, pushed me, and provided the environment in which I could develop not just as an offensive lineman, but also as a leader, teammate, and man of character.
Thank you, coaches, for your wisdom, mentorship, and tough love. You never let me settle. You held me to a standard of greatness, both on and off the field. Your guidance prepared me not only for Saturdays in the SEC, but also for the larger game of life. You instilled in me the determination to improve every day and the humility to never stop learning.
Thank you for fighting with me, teammates—brothers. We have shared blood, sweat, and tears. The kinship we created in the locker room and on the field will stay with me for the rest of my life. We made each other better, lifted each other up, and celebrated every small and large triumph together. That sense of solidarity was amazing, and I’ll treasure those memories forever.
Bulldog supporters, you are a unique and distinct bunch of people. Your enthusiasm, chants, and constant presence throughout every triumph and loss gave me strength. You never stopped believing in us. You never ceased believing in me. Your enthusiasm for this program is strong, and I am delighted to have been a part of it. It gave me meaning on the darkest days and delight on the brightest days.
Mississippi State University is home. It’s where I learned to face hardship with bravery and to accept achievement with humility. It’s there I discovered a family, a purpose, and a legacy. No matter where my life takes me, Mississippi State will always be in my heart. I bleed maroon and white.
Thank you for everything. This is not the end; rather, it marks the beginning of a new chapter. I will always be proud to be a Bulldog.
