Nick Daicos’s Epochal Open Letter to the Collingwood Football Club, Supporters, and the Whole Collingwood Community

To the Collingwood family that I adore,

I’m thinking back on the amazing adventure we’ve taken together as I sit down to write this. I realized as soon as I put on the black and white stripes that I was entering a family, a tradition, and a culture based on fervor, tenacity, and passionate devotion, which went beyond simply being a football team. I write this letter today not only as a player but also as someone who is incredibly appreciative of everything Collingwood has done for me.

I want to thank the club for having faith in me. Collingwood became more than simply a football field for me after I was drafted; it became my home. My development as a player and a person has been greatly aided by the assistance of the coaching staff, the medical staff, and everyone else working in the background. You created an atmosphere that helped me develop, learn, and reach heights I never would have imagined.

You are my brothers, my teammates. Our relationship extends much beyond the game. Together, we have gone through the difficult struggles, sacrifices, victories, and setbacks. You have all influenced my path, and I will always be appreciative of it. I will always treasure the times we spent together, both on and off the field, because we have created lifelong memories.

You are the club’s lifeblood, supporters. Collingwood is unique because of your enthusiasm, which is demonstrated by the Magpie Army’s scream at the MCG, the chants that reverberate through the stands, and your everlasting support whether it’s raining, shining, winning, or losing. Every challenge, every goal, and every proud moment I’ve worn this guernsey has made me feel your love. You have supported me during my darkest moments and shared in my joys. I will always be grateful for the enthusiasm and faith you bring to our club.

I’ve gained a sense of identity, a mission, and a platform to pursue my passions thanks to Collingwood. I know that this club, its members, and its principles will always be a part of who I am as I develop professionally.

With unending love and gratitude,

Daicos, Nick
