Dear Longhorn Nation,
As I sit down to think on this great chapter of my life, I am filled with gratitude, humility, and a deep sense of pride. Serving as the Texas Longhorns’ Head Coach has been more than simply a professional obligation; it has been one of the greatest honors of my life. From the moment I stepped foot on the Forty Acres, I felt the weight of tradition, the fire of expectation, and, most importantly, the undying support of a fandom and community that bleeds burnt orange.
Thank you, University of Texas leadership and administration, for believing in me. Your dedication to quality and belief in my vision have enabled me to lead with confidence, conviction, and honesty. You provided me the opportunity to uphold a tradition, reignite a heritage, and represent a university that is a beacon of brilliance both on and off the field. I’ve never taken that responsibility lightly.
To my coaching staff and support team: your tremendous labor behind the scenes, conviction in our vision, and unwavering determination have been the foundation of our program’s success. We worked together to create something real. A culture founded on tenacity, discipline, and belief. Thank you for supporting me through every victory, lesson, and defining moment.
Thank you to all of my past, present, and future players for your trust. Coaching, mentoring, and watching you grow into leaders, teammates, and men has been the most rewarding part of this trip. You’ve demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity, maturity in your development, and heart in everything you’ve done. I am proud of each and every one of you—not just for how you played, but also for how you represented Texas.
To the Longhorn faithful, your loyalty is unsurpassed. You filled Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium with excitement, pride, and enthusiasm. You supported us not only in times of glory, but also during hard-fought wars and rebuilding days. Your belief powered our struggle. You are the heart of this program, the spirit that propels us to be more than just a football team. You made Austin feel at home.
To the larger Texas community, thank you for welcoming me and my family. The support, encouragement, and genuine warmth we’ve received from fans, alumni, and locals has been overwhelming in the greatest possible ways. You have given us roots, and we are eternally grateful.
I came here with one goal in mind: to restore Texas to its summit glory. And, while there is still work to be done, I am confident that the foundation is solid, the road is clear, and the future is bright. We are developing champions—both on and off the field.
