To the Oklahoma Sooners Softball Family, Dear Fans, and the Entire Sooner Nation.
Dear Sooner family,
As I ponder on this fantastic experience, I’m overwhelmed with appreciation. This letter is written from the deepest part of my heart—where joy, humility, and great thanks reside—because what you have all given me over the years cannot be measured. It can only be felt.
When I arrived in Norman decades ago, I had no idea what would happen. I was just a coach with a passion for the game, wanting to create something important. What I discovered here was so much more: a community that welcomed me, a university that believed in me, and a fans that stood firm—loud, proud, and unrelenting.
My players—past, present, and future—are the lifeblood of this program. You have trusted me with your dreams and given your all to a vision far greater than the game itself. You have helped me become a better coach, a stronger leader, and, most importantly, a better woman. Seeing you develop—on and off the field—has been the greatest privilege of my life.
To the fans, you are unparalleled. Your enthusiasm remained constant during every inning, every championship run, and even the terrible seasons. You infused Marita Hynes Field with energy, faith, and love. You traveled far and wide, braving rain and heat to be a part of our narrative. You made Norman feel like the center of the softball universe—and I appreciate that.
Thank you to the University of Oklahoma’s leadership, sports staff, and faculty for believing in the purpose, supporting our growth, and creating an environment conducive to achievement. This university provided me with a home where I could grow not only as a coach, but also as a mentor, mother, and motivator.
Thank you, parents and families of our student-athletes, for entrusting your daughters to us. You raised strong, remarkable young women, and it has been an honor to assist them through a key period in their lives.
And to the entire Sooner community: thank you for your love, prayers, kind comments, and unwavering support. Whether you cheer from the stands or from afar, you’ve made this program feel like a family.
This program is not founded on prizes; it is built on trust, hard effort, and the unbreakable bond we share. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow as a leader and a human being. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of something much bigger than myself.
