The Michigan Wolverines finished 8-5 last season, but they had a lot of momentum at the end of the season. After beating Ohio State for the fourth year in a row and defeating Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl, Michigan is getting a lot of there is a lot of excitement about the 2025 season. With five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in the fold and veterans out of the transfer portal, the Wolverines appear to be knocking on the door of the College Football Playoff in ’25 after missing out last year.
Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports, however, sees things differently. Predicting Big Ten victory totals, he predicts Michigan to lose four games in 2025 and finish 8-4. He believes the Wolverines will lose on the road to Oklahoma, at Nebraska, at USC, and at home against Ohio State.
Last year, the Sooners won just six games, while Nebraska and USC each won seven. The transfer portal can swiftly change teams, but if Michigan loses to all three of those teams on the road, it’s difficult to see the 2025 season as anything other than a failure.
If Michigan wants to return to the CFP and compete for a Big Ten title, it must beat the teams it is expected to beat. And until Ohio State proves it can beat the Wolverines, especially at the Big House, it’s difficult to choose against the maize and blue in that game.
