Just In: Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade Provides Injury and Health Update Ahead of Opening Round Clash
March 5, 2025 – Fox News
In a highly anticipated update ahead of Collingwood’s Opening Round clash, the club’s Head of High-Performance, Jarrod Wade, has provided crucial insights into the team’s injury and health status, assuring fans of the squad’s readiness for the 2025 season.
Speaking to reporters this afternoon, Wade addressed the recovery progress of several key players, with the spotlight on the Pies’ star athletes as they gear up for the season opener.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the squad is in peak physical condition for Round 1,” said Wade. “While we’ve had a few niggles throughout the pre-season, we’re in a strong position. Most of our players have either fully recovered or are nearing full fitness ahead of the big game.”
Among the top concerns, Wade revealed that veteran midfielder Scott Pendlebury has been managing a minor calf strain but has shown strong progress over the past week. “Scott’s rehab has gone as planned, and he’ll be ready to go,” Wade confirmed, alleviating concerns for the captain’s availability.
Further updates were provided on star forward Jordan De Goey, who had been recovering from a shoulder injury sustained last season. Wade confirmed De Goey is “fit and firing” and “ready to play his part” in the team’s opening match.
The injury list wasn’t all good news, however. Young defender Nick Daicos, who had been dealing with a knee issue, has not yet been cleared for full contact training. Wade explained, “Nick is working through a precautionary phase, and while he’s progressing, we’re taking a cautious approach to ensure there are no long-term setbacks.”
Additionally, Collingwood’s ruck duo, Brody Grundy and Mason Cox, are in full training and set to be available for selection, according to Wade. “Both Brody and Mason have shown no signs of setbacks. They are both fully fit, and we’re confident they’ll contribute to the team’s success from the get-go,” said Wade.
With an eye on fitness, the Pies’ medical team has taken an extra level of caution this pre-season, following the injury setbacks the team faced last year. The positive injury update will no doubt be a relief to the Magpies’ faithful as the club looks to launch into the new season with confidence and strength.
The Pies will take on their Round 1 opponents this Saturday in what promises to be an exciting start to the AFL season. Collingwood fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the club appears set to face the challenge head-on, with a strong and healthy squad ready to tackle 2025.
