Stu Cook, the 79-year-old bassist of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has listed his Sarasota, Florida, waterfront estate for $9.975 million.
The residence, located at 3638 San Remo Terrace, was originally designed by renowned Sarasota School architect Carl Abbott. After a devastating fire in 2014, which left only the exterior walls intact, Cook and his wife, Dana, oversaw a comprehensive 27-month reconstruction. They re-engaged Abbott to preserve the home’s modernist design, resulting in a seamless blend of classic Sarasota School architecture with contemporary elements.
Spanning 5,500 square feet over three floors, the home features floor-to-ceiling windows, a Valcucine glass-front kitchen, and a rooftop deck offering panoramic views extending nearly to Venice. The property also includes a heated pool, spa, private boat dock with a lift, and a travertine pool deck with both covered and uncovered lounge areas. The rooftop deck, accessible via elevator, is designed to accommodate 40 to 50 guests and includes an elegant wet bar.
Cook and his wife are opting for a simpler lifestyle after spending a summer in Europe, where they embraced smaller living spaces and a “lock-and-leave” way of life. They have already relocated to a residence on Golden Gate Point in Sarasota, aiming for a more low-maintenance lifestyle.
