Dear Islander Family,
From the moment I was drafted in 2015 to every shift I’ve played on the ice in orange and blue, I’ve felt nothing but pride, passion, and purpose. Now, when I reflect on my journey thus far, I feel obliged to convey my heartfelt thanks to the New York Islanders organization, fans, and the entire community for shaping me into the player and person I am today.
To the front office and coaching staff, thank you for your unflinching faith in me. From the beginning, you saw more than simply a kid skater with speed and vision. You provided me with the opportunity to study, the structure to develop, and the duty to lead. Whether you pushed me in practice or trusted me in crucial occasions, your advice helped me grow both on and off the ice. You not only helped me improve as a player, but also as a person.
My teammates—past and present—are my brothers. The fights we’ve fought together, the games we’ve won and lost, and the memories we’ve made in that locker room are imprinted on my soul. Whether we were working through a back-to-back or celebrating a playoff win with our fans at UBS Arena, we were bound by a relationship that only this game can create. I’m pleased to have worn the same crest as each and every one of you.
To the Isles fans, you are the franchise’s heartbeat. Your enthusiasm, passion, and dedication are unparalleled. From the thunderous chanting at Nassau Coliseum to the electrifying atmosphere in our new home, you’ve been there throughout. You’ve persevered with us through both highs and lows. You have stuck with me. Your encouragement boosted me when I needed it the most, and your faith in me gave me the confidence to take risks and lead with conviction.
Thank you to the greater Islanders community for welcoming me. Living and playing here means more than just a job. It is a privilege. Long Island embraced me with open arms, providing me with a second home and a network of support that extends far beyond the rink. Whether it’s a handshake after a game or a nod from a fan on the street, such interactions remind me of how much this shirt means to people. It means everything to me, too.
I know the road is not over. There’s more to chase. Additional games to win. And I commit to continue giving my all for this team, crest, and community. I play with pride—for those who came before me, for those who stand beside me today, and for the future Isles who will carry on this tradition.
